This 2006 Ducati PaulSmart 1000LE is an immaculate one-owner example. 1 of 2,000 made and the only one sold in Manitoba (from Wildwood), and the only one currently in Manitoba. Won 1st Place in its class at the 2024 World of Wheels.

Paul Smart’s, a legendary British pilot, won the 1972 Imola 200 on a 750SS. That victory put Ducati on the map as a bonafide competitor in the racing world. Thirty four years after Smart’s win at Imola, Ducati released a range of retro-themed bikes celebrating the Bologna firm’s classic bevel-drive twins. The most interesting and gorgeous of the Pierre Terblanche designed modern retros, was the Paul Smart 1000 LE.

Finished in silver over a green trellis frame, it is powered by a 992 cc (60.5 cu in) 90° L-twin cylinder, 2-valves per cylinder desmodromic, air-cooled engine with Marelli injectors on a 45 mm throttle body connected to a 6-speed transmission. Ducati claimed the power output was 92 hp at 8.000 rpm and claimed torque was 67.3 lb⋅ft at 6.000 rpm. Features wire-spoke 17″ wheels with polished alloy rims wearing Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tires measuring 120/70 up front and 180/55 out back. Adjustable Öhlins suspension consists of an inverted 43mm fork as well as a piggyback-reservoir monoshock mounted to the left leg of the tubular-steel swingarm. Braking is from triple Brembo calipers, a pair of 320mm discs up front, and a single 245mm disc out back. Clip-on handlebars are mounted below the upper triple clamp, and optional steering damper. White-dial instrumentation consists of a 260-k/ph speedometer and an 11k-rpm tachometer, each of which has an inset digital display.

This PS1000LE is outfitted with a Termignoni two-into-one exhaust system, a gel-padded solo seat, and a steering damper. It has 9k kilometers (~6k miles) all of which have been ridden by the seller.. Includes purchase records, certificate of authenticity, owner’s and shop manuals, three keys, a fitted tank cover and bag, a Ducati-branded riding jacket and pants, a Pit Bull rear-axle stand, stock exhaust and seat, and Manitoba registration in the seller’s name. Close-up photos showing blemished paint on the mirror housings are available upon request.

The seller reports changing the oil most recently in June 2022.
